Purpose
The Tampa Bay Lightning are committed to providing girls within Florida and the Tampa Bay Area a safe, competitive environment to grow their individual hockey skills while promoting the enjoyment, appreciation and understanding of hockey.
The purpose of the Lightning Girls Rec League is to teach the girls the rules of the game, help them develop their skills, give them a chance to play with and against other girls, help them make friends off the ice, and to have fun. We hope your daughter will enjoy her time with us and learn as much as possible about the game!

The Tampa Bay Lightning Girls Rec League takes place at Power Pole Arena, located at 6910 Asphalt Ave, Tampa, FL 33614 and is for GIRLS ONLY AGES 6-15 that have completed Learn to Play (Hockey 101) and Learn to Play 201 (Hockey 201) or who have been approved by the coaching staff.
The league format is 12 weeks and the fall season will begin on August 30th!
9U Rec League: For girls ages 6-9 who have completed a Learn to Play program (Hockey 101) and Rookie League (Hockey 201) and are looking to learn more about positioning and game play! The 9U league practices for 1 hour on Sundays, followed by 1 hour of mini-games. The league has 3 teams and each team plays 2, 16 minute running clock games.
All scores are recorded throughout the season and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals are given out on the last day!
15U Rec League: For girls ages 10-15 who have completed Learn to Play 201 (Hockey 201) or have aged out of 9U Rec League and are looking for more practice and game time! The 15U league practices every other Thursday (2 teams practice one week, 2 teams practice the next). The 4 team league has games every Sunday that are 1 hour full games.
All scores are recorded throughout the season and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals are given out on the last day!
