Ice Hockey Programs

We have all new Girls Only programming for girls of all ages and skill levels including: Learn to Skate, Learn to Play, Rookie League, Rec League, and a Development Program for 11-16 year olds.

Join Tampa Bay Lightning Alumni and Staff for 8-weeks of Learn to Skate! Take advantage of a great opportunity to improve your skating skills prior to starting hockey lessons. 

The NHL and the NHLPA have partnered with the Tampa Bay Lightning to provide a low-cost opportunity for kids to try hockey for the first time. During the 2025-2026 hockey season, more than 800 boys and girls (age 4-10) will discover the sport of hockey for the first time through the Lightning Learn to Play Hockey Program presented by Outback. This program will be offered in multiple rinks throughout Florida.

Following Learn to Play, the Tampa Bay Lightning Rookie League offers a developmental platform for participants ages 4-12. Rookie League is similar to the Learn to Play program. It is another 8-week program; however, there is more focus on game play. It was created as a buffer program between the Learn to Play and your Rink's local rec league so it is repeatable, allowing for progression until your child feels comfortable transitioning to the local Rec League.

The Tampa Bay Lightning offer ice hockey camps at different rink locations in the Tampa area throughout the year.

The Tampa Bay Lightning offer multiple programs for those with disabilities the opportunity to join in and play hockey. 

The Tampa Bay Lightning Heroes League is a 10-week regular season of round-robin gameplay and 2-weeks of playoffs between teams composed of Medical Staff, Teachers, Veterans, Warriors, Firefighters and Police Officers. It is a 4v4 league run out at Power Pole Arena,  and also consists of other fun surprises along the way. 

The Lightning High School Hockey League consists of 20 Varsity Teams, 18 JV Teams, and a Developmental League with 750+ players in the Tampa Bay Area.
