TAMPA, FL – The Tampa Bay Lightning are set to launch the first-ever Learn to Play Sled Hockey Program sponsored by an NHL team. The Learn to Play Sled Hockey Program will work to empower youth aged 6 to 16 who have a physical disability limiting one’s ability to play ice hockey in a standing position.

 

Sled hockey, also known as sledge hockey, is a variant of ice hockey designed for individuals who have difficulty playing the sport in a standing position due to physical disabilities. Through this program, participants will receive comprehensive training tailored to their unique needs, enabling them to develop essential skills and unleash their full potential on the ice.

 

The Learn to Play Sled Hockey Program will feature eight, one-hour training sessions over the span of eight weeks beginning on Saturday, May 11 and concluding on Saturday, July 20. The program registration fee is $150 per participant, which covers the cost of all on-ice training. Additionally, participants will receive all necessary equipment to play, including sleds and sled hockey sticks, which will be on site for use during the program.
