Overview

The Tampa Bay Lightning are committed to providing girls within Florida and the Tampa Bay Area a safe, competitive environment to grow their individual hockey skills while promoting the enjoyment, appreciation and understanding of hockey.
We have Girls Only programming for girls of all ages and skill levels including: Ball Hockey, Learn to Skate, Learn to Play, Learn to Play 201, two Rec Leagues (7-9 and 10-13), and Travel Hockey (SGHL and Tier 2).

- 3x World Champion with the US Women's National Team (1 at the U18 level and 2 at the senior level)
- NWHL Champion and All Star MVP with the Buffalo Beauts
- EWHL Champion with the Moscow Tornado
- CWHL Champion with the Boston Blades
- Division 1 College Hockey Player at Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA
- 7 years of Division 1 coaching experience at Mercyhurst and Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA

Ball Hockey Programming
Looking to introduce your daughter into hockey or want to continue developing her skills? Join US Women's National Team Alumni, Kelley Steadman, and Lightning Staff for one of our many Ball Hockey Programs.
Learn to Skate
Join US Women's National Team Alumni, Kelley Steadman, and Lightning Staff for 8-weeks of Learn to Skate! Take advantage of a great opportunity to improve your skating skills prior to starting hockey lessons.
Learn to Play
The NHL and the NHLPA have partnered with the Tampa Bay Lightning to provide a low-cost opportunity for kids to try hockey for the first time. During the 2024-25 hockey season, more than 140 girls (age 5-10) will discover the sport of hockey for the first time through the Lightning Learn to Play Hockey Program. This program is offered at Power Pole Arena.
Learn to Play 201
Learn to Play 201 is a next steps program for young girls who are preparing to participate in a local rec hockey league. LTP 201 is an 8-week program for ages 5-12 years old and is coached by US Women's National Team Alumni, Kelley Steadman, and other Lightning Staff.
Clinics & Camps
The Tampa Bay Lightning offer GIRLS ONLY ice hockey camps at different rink locations in the Tampa area throughout the year.
Rec League
The Tampa Bay Lightning Girls Rec League provides a safe and competitive environment for girls in the Tampa Area to continue developing their hockey skills, make friends, and have fun. The Girls Rec League consists of two ages divisions, 9U and 13U, and is an 8-week season that consists of round robin gameplay ending in a championship game the final week. This is a 4v4 league run out of Power Pole Arena.
Lightning Girls Travel Hockey
The Lightning Girls Travel Hockey program focuses on athlete development and growth on and off the ice while striving to help our athlete's get to their next level. The Lightning offer an 8/10U Development Team, 12U SGHL, 14U SGHL, 14U Tier II, and 16U Tier II teams.
