LHSHL RULE CHANGES FOR THE 2024-25 SEASON & BEYOND

 

Please see below for the Rule Changes approved by the Lightning High School Hockey League Board of Directors for the 2024-2025 season & beyond:

Neck Guard Rule: All LHSHL players are required to wear a neck guard in league play and practice.

Ability to Cut Players: Teams will be permitted to cut players from their Varsity & Junior Varsity rosters.

Scratched/Injured Players: Scratched/injured players are not permitted to be on the bench and/or in the penalty box during games.

Development League: For the upcoming season, the Development League will not take place. Any player cut from Varsity/Junior Varsity will be sent opportunities for Development Clinics hosted by Lightning Hockey Development staff and Lightning Alumni.

 

Please see below for the Rule Changes from SAHOF/USA Hockey that will apply to the Lightning High School Hockey League:

Parent/Spectator Conduct – Minimum 4-game suspension: If any parent or spectator violates the USA Hockey Zero Tolerance policy/LHSHL Parent Code of Conduct before, during, or after an LHSHL league game, for a first offense, that parent/spectator will be subject to a MINIMUM suspension of 4 LHSHL league games.

Penalty Box Attendant Conduct – Minimum 6-game suspension: If any penalty box attendant is removed from any league game due to inappropriate behavior, they will receive an automatic 6-game suspension.

Tier 1 Teams - Players zoned to Pure Teams: Starting this season, players attending non-traditional schools zoned to pure teams are eligible to play for the pure team. See below for the new description for a Tier 1/Pure team:

To qualify as a Pure, or Tier I team, all players, including goaltenders, must physically attend the same school. Pure teams may also include players that attend an online school, an academy/private/charter school, or are home-schooled and reside within the boundaries of the high school.
